It's All About Water again

We have to protect our freshwater and it seems that our governments are not quite up to the job or they just don't get it. They are not doing enough and we need to take action on this right now or our children and grand children will suffer the consequences of our ignorance. This shames me because I was of a generation that was going to change the world. Instead we became a SUV driving, selfish 'me generation' instead of environmental friends I had hoped for.
What I don't get is, we have the largest resources of fresh water in the world

and we insist in thinking that it will be there forever. It will not be there forever if we do not take care of it and there will be in the future wars in this ever shrinking world of ours over WATER. Is this what our children and grand children can thank us for. I bow my head in shame. I love this planet and everything the universe created on it, but this is truly ridiculous that we are still trying to pound into the heads of our governments that we need to protect our water from pollution by mankind. I am talking about invasive species, pollutants from industry & household waste and ROAD SALT. In the 1970's almost every home in every roadside village in southern Ontario had to go to large bottled water containers in their homes, even though these people lived in the country and should have access to fresh water from their backyard wells, their wells were polluted with road salt. It is time to either give up the car in winter or find a new environmental solution to road salt. I hate climate change, but this winter at least those plows were not out there spreading so much of that evil on our roads. Please read Road Salt poisoning Pickering Waterfront in the Star.
Also if you want something done about this EVER GROWING  problem please look at my side bar for NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY sidebar and you will our Government representatives there and write to them that you care about our freshwater resources and that you want to protect them. Please tell them that the issue of road salt is just one of many issues that is having an effect on our water.
